Nestled in the rolling hills and valleys of Robertson in the Western Cape is a winery owned by Habata called Le Grand Chasseur Estate. To complement its new lease on life, the winery needed a complete refurbishment of its floor and being familiar with their excellent products, appointed Sika South Africa as the preferred supplier for the project.
The refurbishment commenced with the old 2 800m² concrete floor in the fruit-packing area, which had to be demolished and recast. The excellent workmanship of Botwei Projects meant that they were given the task of repairing the concrete floor’s defects.
• Sikadur®-43 ZA, a three-component repair and filling mortar was used as a coving mortar. Once mixed, it forms a trowel-able mortar, which delivers superior strength and adhesion to cementitious substrates and is suitable for both dry and damp surfaces given its rapid strength.
• Sikafloor®-21 N Purcem® when applied approximately 4,5mm thick, delivers a medium to high strength slip-resistant, smooth, coloured finish, which is both aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean. This made it ideal for the winery’s new flooring.
• To ensure a high degree of hygiene, the floor joints were sealed using Sika® Primer-3 N, followed by the high-performance elastic joint sealant, Sikaflex® Pro-3 I, which carries a “clean room” certification, making it an approved product for use in food and potable water areas.
Sika South Africa is proud to have been an integral part of the refurbishment at the Le Grand Chasseur Estate made possible by the professional collaboration of two excellent teams!
