Why specify brass profiles?

Why specify brass profiles?

Brass profiles are paired with many flooring types, including carpets, tiles and laminates. These profiles are long-lasting, suitable for heavy pedestrian traffic areas and are often specified for their favourable aesthetics.

Brass profiles can be specified in their natural state or with a polished finish. The profiles are able to maintain their polished look, even in high-wear areas. In spaces where there is little wear, as well as in coastal regions, brass profiles tend to tarnish over time. To avoid degradation or a dull look, regular polishing is recommended.

Like aluminium, brass is generally used in its extruded form, which offers endless options in terms of shapes, designs and sizes. Kirk stocks a range of brass retrofit stair nosings, tile-in stairnosing, various sized covers and transitions, formable straight edges, different sized straight edges, round edge trims, flat bars, retrofit corner protectors and stair rods and ends. Brass profiles can also be designed to fit designers’ requirements, offering bespoke profile designs. The profiles can be installed internally and externally, but it is important to note that external brass profiles will require more maintenance in order to maintain a polished look.
