Why polished concrete works for agricultural facilities

Commercial farmers need to pay serious attention to flooring requirements and solutions at their industrial facilities and warehouses. Just like other buildings in the industrial sector, agricultural companies need to adhere to numerous safety and health standards.

Industrial flooring forms a big part of the design of the facility, which is why the flooring sector has become an entire industry on its own. Industrial flooring options vary from style, finish and colour to performance attributes such as strength, flatness, imperviousness and its ability to contribute to meeting acoustic, health and other requirements.

Darryl Gray, director of Diamond Products Cape (Pty) Ltd points out that polished concrete continues to become an increasingly popular choice in industrial flooring installations.

“We have seen a marked increase in attention being paid to floors in the agricultural industry. One case in point is the farmlands in the Western Cape. In South Africa we have world class wineries and this includes attention to the storage facilities on these farms, with flooring being the first area to address,” says Darryl

“A simple concrete floor is not going to comply with the high standards that our wineries are known for. We have noticed a substantial increase in polished concrete flooring in this industry, paired with a clear coating that can withstand the effects of the by-products during production,” concludes Darryl
