Domotex, the leading trade fair for carpet and floor coverings, takes place in Hanover from 12-15 January 2023. As usual, creative installations, presentations of sustainable products and an exciting conference form part of the programme.

Sustainability taking the lead

Sustainability and circular economy are the leading themes, with its own special display area named The Green Collection. This includes informative presentations and a holistic view of the changes in sustainable design in the industry:

  • Luxury carpets must be sustainable – Michael Christie, author and publisher of the blog “The Ruggist”.
  • Customer experience as a success factor in B2B trade – Kai Hudetz, IFH Köln.
  • Sustainability in interior design – Elina Grigoriou, interior designer and sustainability expert.
  • Supply chain law – Bernd Lange, member of the European Parliament.
  • Contributions from speakers from politics, associations, interior design and trade.

The Green Collection

The Green Collection, the point of reference for sustainable products, has four sub-themes representing sustainability in carpet and flooring productions:

  1. Eco-friendly products: Organic and ethically sourced materials / recycled and upcycled.
  2. Healthy products: Low-emission products.
  3. Sustainable production: Non-polluting, energy-saving manufacturing processes.
  4. Social responsibility: An active stand against child and forced labour / social-ethical responsibility / fair trade.

Mood spaces

New room installations representing the latest furnishing trend, Mood Spaces, echo integration between floor coverings and interior design.

Participating in the room installations is Holly Becker, an interior designer, blogger and trend expert from Hanover, renowned designers Mark Braun, Peter Fehrentz, Sebastian Herkner and interdisciplinary design duo Studio Besau-Marguerre, with Eva Marguerre and Marcel Besau.

Textile design course

The textile design course from the project, Boden Schätze, will display exhibits, with sustainability playing an essential role. The exhibition will show the individual stages of the process – from design to pattern development to the actual carpets.

Award ceremonies

There will be several award ceremonies on 12 January to honour the world’s most beautiful designer carpets in eight categories.
