IMPERBEL, a Belgian producer of high-quality waterproofing membranes, has officially launched its subsidiary company, DERBIT® South Africa.
After introducing DERBIT® waterproofing membranes in the South African market in 2015, IMPERBEL, a Belgian producer of high-quality waterproofing membranes, has officially launched its subsidiary company, DERBIT® South Africa.
The new company was introduced to local businessmen and -women on 15 March 2016 at the residence of the ambassador of Belgium, Hubert Cooreman. The event was attended by high profile professionals in the build environment.
Speaking at the event, the chief executive officer of IMPERBEL Belgium, Johan Symoens, indicated that the company is looking to expand the excellent commercial and technical support for which it has become known throughout the world. IMPERBEL starting exporting DERBIT® waterproofing membranes to South Africa at the end of 2014, and in 2015 more than 200 000m² of DERBIT® membranes were installed throughout the country by approved contractors.
“Our products are designed to endure the local climate and roofs can last for 40 years. At the end of its life, the membranes can be removed and recycled, or a new layer can just be added on top,” Symoens pointed out.
The DERBIT® waterproofing membrane is a one-layer system with dual performance thanks to two separate reinforcements within the membrane. First, a fibreglass mat ensures perfect dimensional stability as well as heat and ultraviolet (UV) resistance. Secondly, a spun bond non-woven polyester component provides resistance to impact and tearing.
IMPERBEL is dedicated to the sustainability of environmental resources. Together with its recycling policy (4000 tons per annum), environmentally friendly products such as DERBICOLOR FR Olivine (a waterproofing membrane that captures and converts CO2 ) and DERBIBRITE NT (a new generation passive cooler waterproofing membrane) are available for specific contracts.
