Serving underprivileged pre-schoolers by providing them with new floors to provide a degree of comfort and safety underfoot.

Proud of the fact that they were able to warm the hearts and feet of 100 underprivileged pre-schoolers attending Warmbron Pre-Primary in the Ou Dorp community of Montagu, Polyflor SA recently installed 250m² of flooring free of charge which was installed and fitted by Charles Davids, Technical Manager at Polyflor SA.

“Our school was established in 1980 to render an early childhood development (ECD) programme to the poorest of the poor children aged between one and five years in our community,” explained Dinah Pekeur, principal of the school.

According to Dinah, the school’s programmes support children in need of access to effective, efficient, holistic and integrated ECD services, which address their cognitive, social, physical and nutritional needs, while keeping them safe and off the streets.

“We currently have sixty children who all receive social grants from the State,” explains Dinah. “Their parents have very little or no income and can therefore not afford to pay the school fees of R60.00 per month. This obviously places a huge financial burden on the school. There simply are no funds to beautify or improve our school. For this reason, we are hugely thankful to companies like Polyflor who are willing to support our efforts.”

She concludes by stating that their school now looks neat and new and all the children, parents and teachers are deeply appreciative of what Polyflor SA has done.”
