Responsible sourcing
Sustainable manufacturing starts with the responsible selection of raw materials. Polyflor vinyl flooring products contain up to 85% natural materials that are 100% recyclable, with the balance being freely available calcium carbonate. No repro-toxic, endocrine disrupting or carcinogenic plasticisers are used, furthermore, no lead, cadmium or any other “harmful” substances are in any of their products.
Recycling
“Polyflor SA has been collecting and recycling installation offcuts for several years now and has ‘rescued’ over 11-tons of material from landfill,” says Nelia Garcia, Polyflor Industry Sector Sales Manager. “We are piloting a revolutionary new process which will make such a difference in the construction industry.”
Energy efficiency
Vinyl flooring is notably energy-efficient to produce, using 15% less energy than linoleum and 50% less than ceramics. Additionally, about 84% of the fuel mix which Polyflor UK uses for electricity comes directly from renewable energy.

Certifications
Polyflor has green certifications from the UK and other worldwide certification bodies. The company only imports the highest quality products and has earned the local Green Tick certification, by the Southern African Vinyl Association (SAVA), certifying complete adherence to the SAVA Product Stewardship Commitment. This attests to the fact that these products are responsible, safe and of the best quality.
To achieve the Green Tick certification, companies must commit to sustainable manufacturing processes, with a focus on mercury-free vinyl production and on reducing Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM) emissions and content in their products.
