Ultra compact surface

Dekton® by Cosentino is an innovative, ultra-compact surface for architectural and design application, both for indoor and outdoor spaces.

The result of an investment of 128 million euros and 22 000 hours of research and development, Dekton® by Cosentino, is a new and innovative ultra-compact surface created for architectural and design purposes for both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Dekton® is a sophisticated, high-quality mixture of the raw materials that are used to manufacture glass, porcelain materials and quartz surfaces. It is manufactured in a large format (320cm x 144cm) in varying thicknesses (0,8cm, 1,2cm and 2cm) with superior technical characteristics.

These characteristics are achieved as a result of their exclusive Technology of Sinterised Particles (TSP), developed by the Cosentino Group. TSP involves an ultra-compaction process which makes Dekton® a revolutionary low-maintenance, long-lasting product with a multitude of applications.

Spiralled landmark covered with Dekton
Prestigious architect and designer, Daniel Libeskind, designed a spectacular architectural sculpture entitled “Beyond the Wall”, the first landmark created with Dekton®. This impressive polycentric spiral is located at the Cosentino Group’s headquarters in Almeria. Instead of a traditional spiral with a single centre and axis, the contemporary design opens a plurality of directions along many different trajectories: A polycentric spiral that propulsively twists to a dramatic zenith. The spiral is the result of the synergy between Libeskind’s architectural vision and Cosentino’s innovative material, Dekton®.

“Beyond the Wall” demonstrates how the ultra-compact surfacing material can successfully cover a complex architectural facade. Dekton® has been applied to all exterior facades, interior walls and flooring of the 8,5m high structure. In total, 305m² is covered by Dekton® in different formats, 2cm pieces as well as the large format size of 320cm x 144cm. The whitest finish available, Zenith, was chosen for the facades and walls, in contrast with the perfect black of the Sirius colour, selected for the flooring.

Global applications
Other applications of the ultra-compact Dekton® surface include the flooring for Baku Airport, various Pepe Jeans stores in Barcelona, Paris and Rotterdam, the Dani García restaurant in Marbella and the DiverXO restaurant of David Muñoz in Madrid.

In 2015, Spanish tennis player, Rafael Nadal, features in a worldwide Dekton® advertising campaign with the “Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar” tennis academy also looking to include Dekton in diverse applications at the spectacular premises.
