TIPSASA has online and in-person CPD training available for professionals. The training is focussed on thermal insulation in buildings.

Modules

The training consists of four modules of two hourly lectures each; and can be presented in one day or over two morning sessions. It includes:

• Module 1: Legislation, regulations and standards.
• Module 2: Thermal insulation introduction and terminology.
• Module 3: Fire performance of thermal insulation.
• Module 4: Energy efficiency in buildings.

Compulsory thermal insulation

Thermal insulation is essential for energy efficiency and is since 2011 compulsory in all new buildings and extensions, as per the relevant building occupancy classes applicable in accordance with Regulation XA1.

Revision of energy usage in buildings

SANS 10400-XA energy usage in buildings was revised in 2021. The changes in thermal insulation are addressed in the training.

The revision of SANS 10400-part T, Fire protection, will feature prominently, with a focus on the newly proposed fire tests and classification system which is more stringent and on par with Europe. Training is available at a minimal cost. Personalised training can also be arranged for companies.
