As part of its commitment to social responsibility, Sika worked with CHC-SA Concrete Floors (Pty) Ltd to build a pool for Khayalethu Child and Youth Centre, in partnership with Ironman 4 the Kidz. By gaining a sponsorship for participating in various Ironman challenges, the charity aims to raise awareness for the plight of less fortunate children across South Africa.
A safe haven
Children aged between 6 and 21 years are given a safe and nurturing home at Khayalethu Child and Youth Centre, and the chance to reach their true potential. With physical support being one of the key focusses of the centre, a pool would give the children an opportunity to learn a new skill and have fun.
Product selection
After consulting with the team, Sika donated the following concrete and construction chemicals while providing the team with expert support and advice:
- Sika® Form Oil, an emulsion-based shutter release agent.
- Sika® Cemflex®, a universal waterproofing and bonding agent.
- SikaTop® Armatec®-110 EpoCem®, a bonding primer and reinforcement corrosion protection.
- SikaGrout®-212, a high-strength shrinkage compensated cementitious grout.
Sika is extremely proud to have been a part this initiative, making a difference in the lives of the children at Khayalethu Child and Youth Centre. The project was completed in just 25 working days, thanks to Chris and Michelle Howes from CHC-SA Concrete Floors and other generous individuals and companies.
