Taking a look at a manufacturer’s most frequently specified flooring product, and why it has achieved such a prominent position within said company.
After more than 60 years of manufacture, FloorworX’s semi-flexible tile, Floorflex, continues to be the best source of revenue for the company. This specific tile, which was one of the first locally manufactured products by FloorworX in 1953, is considered their most frequently specified flooring product.
Semi-flexible vinyl floor tiles are available in 3 gauges and a range of 18 standard colours to meet the most demanding requirements in terms of tone and shade. Floorflex complements any interior design scheme with its tremendous long-lasting characteristics and aesthetics. It has excellent recovery from indentation, which is just one of the several reasons why it is typically seen in schools and community halls.
Floorflex’s specification should read as follows:
Supply and fix 1,6mm/2,0mm/2,5mm thick x 300mm x 300mm Floorflex semi-flexible vinyl tiles that are manufactured in accordance with SANS 581, quantities measured including all cutting and waste. Lay in FloorworX No. 62 acrylic adhesive, which has been spread using a trowel fitted with an A2 notched blade at a rate of between 5,5m2 and 6,5m2 per litre depending on sub-floor porosity on a previously prepared Class 1 sub-floor. This must be in accordance with SANS 10070 using FloorworX Self-Leveller when required.
The flooring must be rolled in both directions with an articulated 68kg three-sectional roller immediately after it has been laid into the adhesive. The newly laid floor must, after 72 hours, be scrubbed using a diluted solution of FloorworX Rinse and then sealed with three coats of FloorworX Silk Matt or Gloss Sealer.
