Saint-Gobain Africa appoints Othman Benjelloun-Touimi as new CEO

World leader in light and sustainable construction, Saint-Gobain, have announced the appointment of Othman Benjelloun-Touimi as the new CEO of Saint-Gobain Africa, effective February 1st, 2023. Having been with the company for more than 11 years, Benjelloun-Touimi succeeds outgoing CEO, Jean-Claude Lasserre, who successfully started the implementation of Saint-Gobain’s ground-breaking, global carbon neutral roadmap in Africa.

It is with excitement that I am coming back to my African roots. I am looking forward to implementing our Saint-Gobain local strategy: Made in Africa to Build Africa!

Having joined Saint-Gobain in 2011, after working for the Central Bank of France, Othman held key high level management positions within Saint-Gobain Ceramic Materials in France and in the US. Since 2020 and prior to moving to South Africa, he was General Manager at Adfors Industrial Fabrics Europe, one of the Saint-Gobain Group’s High-Performance Solutions Business Units.

My background, having lived, studied, and worked in multiple countries will allow me to grasp both the differences and the similarities within the African continent. My objective is to promote a pragmatic approach with strong local teams dedicated to our local customers still leveraging the Saint-Gobain worldwide expertise in light and sustainable construction.

Throughout his career within Saint-Gobain, Othman Benjelloun-Touimi has demonstrated his ability to both turnaround and grow businesses. Whether within Saint-Gobain Ceramics Materials or ADFORS, he implemented successful strategies and invested selectively in growing markets or technologies. More importantly, he has a track record in growing international teams levarging the Saint-Gobain TEC (Trust – Empowerment – Collaboration) culture.

Under Othman Benjelloun-Touimi’s leadership, Saint-Gobain Africa remains committed to growing its footprint in Africa by executing its expansion strategy and further consolidating its current production bases. Additionally, as leaders in light and sustainable construction, Saint-Gobain will continue to play a key role in elevating the conversation of green building throughout the African markets, with its full range of innovative solutions.
