Safety legislation requires rubber flooring in play areas

Most countries enforce some type of safety legislation regarding safety flooring in playgrounds, parks, crèches and water theme parks. In South Africa, this is not the case. While there are standards in place, these standards are rarely adhered to.

Things are set to change in South Africa as legal practitioners are starting to use the full might of the law in cases where children are injured or maimed on playgrounds that do not meet the required safety standards. In many countries, there are severe penalties if safety flooring isn’t installed in these areas.

Did you know? Falling is the leading cause of non-fatal injuries for all children aged 0 to 14 years. Every single day approximately 8 000 children are treated in US emergency rooms, all for fall-related injuries. This adds up to almost 2.8 million children every year. These injuries can be prevented with safety rubber flooring that meets regulations, by ensuring that playgrounds are well maintained and by making sure that children are supervised while they play. Every child deserves the right to PLAYSaFE!!
