Safer, greener, water-based adhesives

Safer, greener, water-based adhesives

As any experienced flooring applicator will know, conventional contact adhesives go hand-in-hand with unpleasantness. The often overpowering smell, combined with the solvents and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) that irritate your eyes, skin and lungs make this one of the least enjoyable parts of a job. Some people have even found that the solvents and VOCs in these products can leave them feeling temporarily incapacitated with the sensation of being drunk.

Applicators need to be issued with personal protective equipment when they use conventional contact adhesives, which increases project costs and timeframes. To add to this, the highly inflammable nature of VOCs brings with them a significant risk of serious burn injuries. Disposing these products also leads to environmental challenges, which is another headache that iTe Products was determined to solve.

iTe Products invested heavily in research and development to formulate GRIPiTe C60, a water-based contact adhesive that is entirely free of solvents and VOCs. Besides being truly green, it is safer to use and more pleasant to apply when compared to non-flammable solvent-based contacts. It emits only a very low odour and will not have any harmful effect on applicators.

If you have a project where adhesives are used in a confined or poorly ventilated space, be sure to invest in a safe, green product such as GRIPiTe C60. Thanks to its short open time, jobs can also be completed more quickly.

GRIPiTe C60 is not only safer for people and the planet, the lack of solvents in its formulation means that it can be used without risk on a wider range of materials, including polystyrene and solvent-sensitive surfaces.
