Climb, run, cycle, play safely! Fostering fun in every aspect that appeals to children, was the focus when creating a new playground for Somerset College Preparatory School in Somerset West.

Working with the landscape designer, all requirements from ground preparation to edge details, design layout, colour choices and programming came together during the seamless installation of PLAYSAFE safety rubber flooring. 

 Safe for play 

 A bike track was carefully mapped out on the edge of the play area, with a climbing wall, colourful mounds, hopscotch and the general play area surrounding the jungle gym area. 

 Graeme Borrill, owner of CORNA2CORNA Specialised Flooring, the PLAYSAFE installation specialist for the project, said that one of the most pleasing aspects of the installation was watching the young faces peeking out from behind the demarcated fencing, watching their playground come to life. This was topped off with their booming enthusiasm and joy when their new, safe play area was opened to them. “This was one of my most satisfying installations to date!” says Borrill.

 Carmen Weir, school principal of Somerset College Preparatory School, had the following to say about their new playground: “The prime objective was to create a beautiful space for the children at aftercare, with an appealing aesthetic and spacious play area. The landscaper recommended the flooring company and the multi-coloured aesthetic, which took safety into account as the space needed to cater for many children.”
