Resolutions passed for future research

The first National Conference on Concrete Roads and Allied Structures, ConPaveStruc 2023, was hosted by the South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) in Pietermaritzburg recently. The event was held as a collaborative event between Cement & Concrete SA (CCSA), the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the South African Road Federation (SARF) and SANRAL.

This conference was conceived to address the significant volume and extent of concrete pavements and related structures being built. Expected outcomes were to generate more knowledge, expertise and capacity, facilitate knowledge transfer and embedment, and to generate future research needs.

A total of 16 resolutions were identified for focus and future research:

The 25 presentations at ConPaveStruc 2023 highlighted developments in cementitious materials, showcased current projects in South Africa and presented international case studies and insights. From this, 16 resolutions were identified.
