Selecting the right type of flooring for residential projects can be difficult, especially when what the client wants is not well suited to the application or the area.  

This handy cheat sheet of the most popular types of flooring categorises them by performance criteria. It is an easy reference for both the professional and the homeowner to identify and agree on the right solution for the space.

This matrix is merely a guideline of flooring products in general. Some carpets are less prone to staining due to their yarn component. Some laminates do have water-resistant capabilities and a few LVTs have insulation material on their backing to improve their noise factor.
