A3 Architects is an architectural firm that specialises in healthcare design. With branches in Johannesburg, KwaZulu-Natal and Mbombela, the company offers a highly specialised service across South Africa and throughout Africa.
The company is currently tasked with upgrades and renovations at the Life Flora Hospital, owned by Life Healthcare, in Constantia Kloof. The project includes designing and building an additional hospital ward that can accommodate future expansions, a new block for doctors’ consulting rooms, as well as the reconfiguration of the hospital’s access points.
Stacey Ferguson, the technologist from A3 Architects who manages the drafting, details and site coordination of the project, says that the flooring played a key role in the upgrade and renovation of the Life Flora Hospital.
“A few years ago, Life Healthcare Group decided they wanted to adopt a more domestic feel in their hospitals. Not only does this make patients feel more at ease while they are recovering, it creates a different atmosphere for everyone who walks into the building,” explains Stacey.
Approximately 4 000m2 of Belgotex’s products were specified by A3 Architects for the project. Stacey says that Belgotex’s ability to provide a wide range of quality flooring products for luxury residential interior and hospitality projects made it a perfect fit for the client’s aesthetic and performance needs.
“We specified Belgotex’s Hartford Chalet Oak vinyl flooring range, the Berber Point Nexus carpet tiles in charcoal, as well as Gerflor’s Mipolam Esprit sheet vinyl flooring for the Life Flora Hospital. We are very happy with the quality and affordability of the products,” says Stacey.
While it was A3 Architect’s first time working with Belgotex, Stacey says that they had a great experience and will definitely consider specifying the products again.
“Belgotex went above and beyond to give us the information and solutions that we needed. We also like partnering with companies who provide locally manufactured products because this often helps with lead times and meeting project deadlines. Sustainability is also important to us as a firm and to many of our clients, and Belgotex’s eco-conscious manufacturing practices and materials align with our needs,” concludes Stacey.
