As a multidisciplinary design practise, Savile Row specialises in three core areas of specialisation; namely designing for work, home and leisure. Each discipline benefits from the knowledge, research and testing of the other.

“Our clients expect more than design – they desire workspaces that enhance productivity and are as functional as they are inspiring, hospitality spaces that redefine comfort and guest experience, and homes that elevate the quality of land and stand the test of time,” explains Jo Venter, one of the company’s three partners.

This is exactly what Savile Row achieved when approached by ENEL Green Power for a second time to fit-out their additional office space – this time on the eighth floor of the prestigious 102 Rivonia Road development. “We are immensely proud of this turnkey project, and looking at the end result, the latest flooring installation is visually so attractive, I am happy with the installation,” she explains.

Enel Green Power RSA is the Enel Group company dedicated to the development and management of electricity generation from renewable sources in South Africa. With their entry into South Africa as recently as 2014, Enel Green Power RSA benefits from the Enel Group’s synergies and expertise in many areas, especially in wind and solar power and as such they are committed to spread the culture of sustainability in South Africa which aligns nicely with the choice of the locally developed and produced Belgotex flooring installation.

510m² of Belgotex Floors’ Fringe range was specified for this installation. This structured polypropylene range combines good looks with durability while its textured tufted surface provides a fashionable, comfortable foundation that performs well in corporate or general office areas or medium commercial zones. In addition, the soft multi-scroll loop pile adds texture and tonal variations in a subtle hi-low linear design, making it ideal for both insulation and hiding soiling, while the Stainproof Miracle Fibre ensures the floor retains its looks, is easy to clean and durable while being cost-efficient.

Working closely with Brandon Park from KBAC flooring Savile Row negotiated with Belgotex Floors to produce the Fringe product whose colouring and pattern worked perfectly with their design, in their Nylon SDX yarn. “The ability to carry out such a customised request within a limited timeline determined whether we would be able to specify this flooring or not. As such we are impressed by Belgotex Floors for making this happen.”

Besides being one of the only companies to manufacture a nylon tufted bitumen back tile, Jo also lists other factors that resulted in them specifying Belgotex Floors, such as the fact that they are a local supplier and that they don’t cut corners on quality. “Their after-sales service is also excellent, their product guarantees give you peace of mind and they are a well-established company,” she adds.

Jo goes on to say that the Belgotex range of products is extremely comprehensive and they do an excellent job of ensuring that there is a product for every application. This can vary from the very basic cost-effective Berber Point, which is the ‘office standard’ in South Africa, to plush cut-pile broadloom products such as Westminster and Royal Twist. “These are ideal for high-end residential installations and corporate spaces requiring a more sophisticated look and feel,” she explains. “Whilst Berber Point isn’t necessarily the first choice for us as designers, it does perform well above its price range in terms of durability and it is comforting to know that where budget prevails, our clients will always be assured of a reliable known standard for their office installation.

Jo goes on to say that as a result of time constraints and to match the previous installation’s composition, they asked Belgotex Floors if they could make use of nylon instead of polypropylene, which they eagerly agreed on doing. “The end result was a beautiful installation that we know will perform to expectation for several years to come, and as our reputation is on the line as specifiers, we feel at ease knowing that any risks are eliminated when dealing with a supplier such as Belgotex Floors,” she concludes.
