Weber Saint-Gobain has developed a guide to better tile installations with their three step process.
Specifically developed for the professional tiling contractor, the inclusive Weber Saint-Gobain’s Tylon tile fixing range is suitable for various applications including the preparation of substrates, the installation of various types of tiles, as well as the finishing of grout joints.
The complete tile fixing range is comprehensive in its approach, meeting the requirements of architects, designers and professional tiling contractors alike.
When consulting with these professionals, Weber Saint-Gobain makes use of in-house expertise coupled with access to an extensive international pool of innovative adhesive and grout products to ensure that the right tiling products are specified to suit unique project needs.
In addition, Weber Saint-Gobain has access to a global colour database of grouts that offer stain resistant, hygienic, fast setting and easy to clean qualities, which the company recommends to make sure that the vision of the designer is met through the provision of a customised final product.
For the tiling professionals, Weber Saint-Gobain has developed a three step guide to the tiling process.
1. Surface preparation
Whether it is gypsum, cement, friable timber, smooth or plastered surfaces, Weber Saint-Gobain has a comprehensive range of additive and surface coating products to ensure a perfectly prepared surface.
For instance, the weber.ad Bond-it, a latex based liquid additive, is a strengthening agent that assists with general water resistance and has been specifically formulated to use with the ranges of cement based tile adhesives and grouts.
2. Adhesive selection
The choice of an appropriate adhesive is based on a number of variables. Weber has a comprehensive range of adhesives specially formulated for ceramic (weber.set Ceramic), porcelain (weber.set Porcelain) or mosaic (weber.set Mosaic fix) tiles.
What’s more, adhesives are available for quick-setting (weber.set Quick Set 6) tile installations such as high foot traffic walk ways in commercial properties, and for tiling on flexible surfaces such as wood.
3. Grout application
Grouting is the third and final step in the process. The Weber grout range includes general purpose cement based tile grout available in nine colour variants as well as weber.grout Tile Grout WB33 or weber.grout Barrier Waterproof Tile Grout, which comes in two colours and is suitable for application to tiling on walls and floors in wet areas.
Two others, the weber.grout Acid-resistant WB235 is a chemical resistant grout for floors and walls, whilst the weber.grout Quarry Tile WB135 is cement based grout for tile joints on walls and floors.
Weber Saint-Gobain offers a 10 year guarantee on all products, as long as the application is completed as stipulated.
