Three flooring ranges from Belgotex Floors transformed Turner and Townsend’s offices.

Boogertman + Partners Interiors is a vibrant, dynamic interior design department within the Boogertman + Partners group, consisting of designers with combined architectural, interior and technology driven skills. The team specialises in the design of commercial, retail, refurbishment, hospitality, healthcare and leisure sectors.

Approached to carry out Turner and Townsend’s office refurbishment, Boogertman + Partners Interiors fulfilled the role of both project coordinators and costing managers. “A total of 1 200m² of new flooring was installed, with the project area consisting of a client interface area, open offices, managerial offices and a canteen area,” explains Elené Olwagen, Interior Project Coordinator at Boogertman + Partners Interiors. “The project commenced in May 2015 and had to be completed within four months – a task we can proudly say we achieved.”

Turner and Townsend have been occupying the building for several years and they have no plan to relocate in the foreseeable future. They were looking for a fresh new look that portrayed who they are as a company, while at the same time showcasing their work. “We cleared out the entire office with the goal of opening the space up and allowing more light to enter the building,” explains Elené. “The original offices were significantly smaller and more enclosed. Consequently, we moved the canteen back to the centre of the office so that the two wings on either side ensured that everyone had a clear view of the rest of the space.”

Elené highlights that for this project they specified three Belgotex Floors carpet ranges. They specified 220m² of Westminster, primarily because it creates a luxurious look, which is crucial for the boardroom and client areas. This elegant cut-pile carpet offers plush softness underfoot and provides superior sound-absorption properties. It is a tufted cut pile made from Stainproof SDX, has a pile height of 7mm and is classified for heavy commercial use.

“In the open plan office we specified 750m² of Belgotex Floors’ Fringe range,” continues Elené. “We tried to use something different while still ensuring a luxurious look. These specific carpets are easy to maintain as well as cost-effective.” Fringe’s textured tufted surface provides a fashionable, yet comfortable foundation that performs well in corporate or general office areas or medium commercial zones. The soft multi-scroll loop pile adds texture and tonal variations in a subtle hi-low linear design which is ideal for comfort, insulation and hiding soiling, while the Stainproof Miracle Fibre ensures that the floor retains its good looks, is easy to clean and durable without breaking the bank.

“Lastly, we specified 70m² of Belgotex Floors vinyl flooring, namely Hartsfield,” says Elené. “This was installed in the informal meeting spaces where the booths are situated. We wanted to break away from the carpets and try a completely new look and design, which is why this vinyl option was ideal as it looks like timber and creates a more informal look. “This commercial-grade floor is available in an array of colours and textures in order to meet the design and style needs of diverse clientele with a broad range of commercial applications. With the performance and durability of resilient flooring the Hartsfield collection can be used in healthcare facilities, education institutions, retail stores, corporate offices and more.

“Our client was pleased with the installation, the product and design selections, and we were also extremely happy with Belgotex Floors’ products,” says Elené. “They always provide us with reliable products, and we prefer to support local companies where possible. Belgotex Floors has always been part of our extensive library, and we are always pleased with the service they offer in terms of support and product delivery”
