Polyflor SA is hosting several information sharing breakfasts that carry a Category One CPD activity.

Polyflor SA recently hosted a series of “Excellence in Flooring” information sharing breakfasts aimed at architects, specifiers, installers and other interested parties around the country.

Under the topic, “Prevention is better than cure”, Polyflor SA CEO Tandy Coleman-Spolander delivered a detailed presentation that explained how building protection systems can help lower risk and maintenance costs.

“Slips and trips are the single most common cause of major injuries in most countries,” Tandy explains. “However, using the right floor covering and finishes in high risk areas can make a significant contribution to mitigating risks. It has become vitally important for flooring specifiers to know and understand what the slip risk law stipulates and how to incorporate safety solutions into their design. Selecting the right building protection system will also help to protect the building and it can even lower your maintenance costs.”

The South African Institute of Architects had assessed and validated this event as a Category One CPD activity, and delegates were awarded 0.2 CPD points for attending.

Guests who attended were unanimous in their feedback about the value of these breakfast sessions. “This was a very interesting and relevant topic for us as architects,” says Gustav Brink of TV3 Architects who attended the Cape Town breakfast event. “We are very glad we attended as we now have a clearer understanding of the legislation and what we need to bear in mind when specifying floors.”

“We really enjoyed the breakfast session which was very well organised,” comments Carl Blom of Netcare after he attended the Pretoria session. “The presentation we received was definitely useful and interesting, especially the safety side of flooring. This is something we don’t always take in consideration. We will definitely make use of Polyflor SA in future as I have experienced the excellent quality work done by their specialists.”

Cecilia Janse van Rensburg of the Nelspruit based Cecilia Architects concludes: “The breakfast session presented by Polyflor SA with the theme: Prevention is Better than Cure, was a sliding success but none too slippery to ensure that the information shared stayed put.”
