For any type of building, designing for the safety of the occupants and users is always important. Promat, experts in passive fire protection, advises on a complete passive fire protection plan.
Protection plan
The plan consists of four key building blocks:
- Allow people enough time to react and evacuate. The escape route must be able to resist the fire and high temperatures for much longer, independently from the rest of the building.
- Prevent the fire from spreading through the building, for firefighters to extinguish the fire.
- Smoke extraction and ventilation ducts to get rid of smoke and slow down the development of the fire.
- Structural protection to avoid the collapse of the loadbearing structure of the building.
Product selection
PROMATECT®-H is a non-combustible, matrix engineered, mineral board reinforced with selected fibres and fillers. It does not contain formaldehyde. The product is designed for fire protection of steel and concrete structures, ceilings, partition’s and shaft walls.
It is off-white in colour and has a smooth finish on one face, with a sanded reverse face. The board can be left undecorated, or easily finished with paint, wallpaper or tiles.
Benefits
- Non-combustible.
- Resistant to the effects of moisture and humidity.
- Hardwearing and resistant to impact.
- Up to four hours protection for some systems.

Each step in a passive fire protection plan needs a reliable assessment of the risks and the right systems to protect the building. Promat helps clients to understand the local regulations and to choose the right solutions with all the documents required.
