Paint promotes hygiene at New hospital

Dulux Trade supplied paint to inhibit bacteria within 12 hours of contamination, the product helps to promote a more hygienic environment for the highly anticipated, state-of-the-art Botshilu Private Hospital in Soshanguve.

The development of the highly anticipated Botshilu Private Hospital in Block IA, Soshanguve, is set to open its doors on 1 September 2014. The state-of-the-art hospital area is 9 314m², with a consultation rooms’ area of 1 151m².

A family practitioner and entrepreneur from the area, Dr Jacky Rampedi, conceptualised the hospital, which will bring specialised medical services such as cardiothoracic surgery, nephrology, urology and vascular surgery, gynaecology and obstetrics, neurosurgery and ophthalmology to the people of Soshanguve. The R215-million facility will have 100 beds and boasts three operating theatres, doctors’ consulting rooms, 24-hour casualty, radiology, pathology and pharmacy units, as well as a coffee shop.

The Botshilu property is 100% owned by Botshilu Private Hospital, with 48,8% owned by medical practitioners and the remaining 51,2% controlled by Phelang Bonolo Healthcare Solutions.

Dulux Trade’s Sterishield was specified for the project. Blackie Swart Architects explains that they chose this water-based, non-hazardous, interior emulsion paint because it is ideal for hospitals, clinics, care homes, kitchens and food preparation areas.

“With the power to inhibit bacteria within 12 hours of contamination, the product helps to promote a more hygienic environment – through the prevention of the spread of infection,” commented Blackie Swart.

“The product has a further advantage in its bacteria fighting arsenal, in that it exhibits increased anti-bacterial activity when washed,” commented Mayan Desai, Dulux Trade South Africa’s Marketing Manager, before adding that the durability of this product means that it can withstand repeated cleaning, while simultaneously extending its maintenance cycle to up to five years.

“Not only are we excited about the opportunity to help alleviate the problem of overcrowding in public hospitals, but we are also enthusiastic and optimistic about the job opportunities that the Botshilu Private Hospital will offer to the people of Soshanguve,” concluded Rampedi.
