Well-known architect Marian Laserson sadly passed away on 10 July 2020. Marian planted the seed of what became the South African Institute of Architectural Technologists (SAIAT).
Marian was a professional architect for over 45 years. Before she died, she was involved in environmental activism through the conservation of wetlands, grasslands, ridges and rivers in Johannesburg.
She was a lecturer and a mentor to many people throughout her career. In a message from SAIAT, the institute said that few possessed Marian’s range of knowledge and experience, and none were as generous in sharing it.
Ed’s note: Marian was always an avid reader of our titles and a staunch supporter of our DAS CPD events. I’ll miss seeing her in the front row – she had the same spot every year. Our condolences go out to her family, friends and loved ones.
