Newly upgraded website adds a host of technological features that further aids virtual conceptualisation of flooring features.
Innovative new website technology has been launched by Belgotex Carpets that is able to create a 24-hour showroom to reach customers in their time, their space, and at their convenience.
Belgotex Carpets’ website (www.belgotexcarpets.co.za) underwent a significant upgrade in February 2014 – from a static, product catalogue to an interactive tool with easy navigation and fresh, topical content.
The website was designed for maximum convenience and efficiency to enable visitors to source products or ideas both quickly and logically, while at the same time being optimised for enhanced tablet viewing by using a continuous scroll-layout.
Every detail was scrutinised and revised to improve a user’s experience – from searching for a carpet by range, colour, price, room or detail to finding inspiration in the visual Belgotex storyboards or trendy, informative blog.
Every search function offers a selection of suitable ranges with the material price indicator that can be selected as a favourite, with recommendations for similar alternatives.
Every range and colourway that has been selected as a Favourite can be tried out in the Virtual Showroom using the Wishlist, while a zoom function on installation images enables a close-up view of the pile or design.
Sorting by room suggests suitable products for those particular areas, while searching by colour grades different ranges from warm to cool. Icons for various popular social media applications such as Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter or Instagram further increase the opportunity to solicit wider opinion or commentary by posting selected ‘favourites’ to social media sites.
New products or interesting articles are featured on the homepage, where visitors are also kept updated on the latest launches or announcements. Concurrently, common search terms appear as shortcuts on the homepage for easy navigation as opposed to a static menu tab.
What makes this website truly unique is its innovative online ‘Virtual Showroom’. “A picture’s worth a thousand words,” says Helen de Villiers, Marketing Manager at Belgotex Floorcoverings. “Our new virtual showroom enables visitors to visualise their room while testing different flooring options.”
Specially developed software, written exclusively for Belgotex, allows visitors to test different floors or colours in actual room sets, as opposed to the widely available 3D rendered photographs. Users are guided through a quick room selection and asked to select a particular design or layout, whereafter they ‘install’ various flooring types and colours. A convenient hyperlink to Product Information on a particular range offers instant access to product specifications, grading, etc.
Different ranges or colour variations can also be tried and tested through a Wishlist created from selected Favourites, with different lay directions available for vinyl installations. It even goes as far as enabling a room to be set as a grey scale to enhance colour visibility.
Visitors to the site can find a retailer by using the interactive map of South Africa to locate their nearest dealer with full contact details and addresses once they’ve made their selection.
Furthermore, the website is continually updated with the latest colour updates and product swatches, and an automatically updated plug-in is available to the trade at a nominal fee to ensure their website is current and automatically updated with the latest launches and colourways.
