A new underlay is set to enter the market and will provide an array of benefits to ensure a successful installation.
The growing number of products available to the consumer prompted Smoothedge to add carpet underlay to their already vast product range. They selected Interfloor UK as their supplier, due to that company’s reputation as one of the best underlay manufacturers globally.
Smoothedge will be importing a polyurethane underlay, also known as a chip foam, which offers excellent underfoot comfort and high levels of durability.
Interfloor based in the UK, have over 60 years’ experience in manufacturing underlay. Their brand portfolio includes Tredaire and Duralay for underlay, and Gripperrods and Stikatak for flooring accessories.
The initial product that will be made available is Tredaire Brio, which is 8 mm thick and easy to handle as each roll is just 1.37m wide and 11 m long, or 15.07m², and weighs 11.8kg.
The product is guaranteed for the serviceable lifetime of the carpet and offers the following benefits:
• Excellent underfoot comfort;
• Protects the carpet by acting as a “shock absorber”;
• Reduces energy costs by improving thermal insulation;
• Reduces room noise;
• Simplifies the maintenance of a floor;
• Environmentally friendly, as it is made from recycled foam; and
• Exceeds British Standard BS 5808:1991
Interfloor plays a significant role in producing informative point of sale (POS) material, stands, samples and leaflets, all of which should assist in selling this product.
The product will be available from Smoothedge by the end of February 2015, with Grant Neve providing training that will be freely available to those who require it. However, POS material including samples and leaflet packs should be available before the end of the year.
