Seamless marble flooring, a new stone flooring concept, has recently been introduced into the market by Natural Stone Warehouse. The installation process involves installing marble tiles in their raw, saw-cut state after they have been cut from blocks at the quarry.
Instead of using the traditional cementitious grout to fill the grout lines and tile surface, a durable resin is used. In order to eliminate any lippage, specialised machinery is used to grind the floor down to a uniform level. Progressively finer diamond grit is used while this process is repeated until the desired matte/honed or high-gloss finish is achieved. The result is a completely smooth floor with barely visible grout lines which do not discolour over time like normal grout.
One of the advantages of this new flooring concept is the fact that clients can specify different finishes in different areas while using the same product. In outdoor areas, for example, the tiles can be left in the saw-cut state. This type of finish offers adequate slip resistance.

A large number and quantity of Natural Stone Warehouse’s marble products were installed at Ryk Neethling’s residence, the now-famous Polo House, in the prestigious Val de Vie Estate (Winner of the award for Best Multiple Unit and Mixed Use Development at the International Property Awards in 2012/2013 and nominated at this year’s event). Natural Stone Warehouse assisted the interior designer, Nicolette Jonas, with product selection, layout and special finishes, including a large amount of seamless Crema Marfil marble and other marble finishes in the bathrooms and living areas.
The house, which was built by Guardian Projects, recently won the prestigious Property Award for Best Single Unit Residential Development. The Polo House competed against a number of residential property developments in the African and Arabian regions to receive this recognition. It was also chosen as top-scoring regional winner in its category to go on to compete in London at the global competition against the best of Europe, the UK, the Americas and Asia to find the ultimate World’s Best in each category.
“Natural Stone Warehouse was identified as our preferred supplier due to their proven track record and expertise in providing the highest quality and most beautiful natural stone products,” said Leonhard Jonas, Director of Guardian Projects.
“For the Polo House, an iconic masterpiece and jewel in the crown of the estate, together with the Polo Pavilion and the Val de Vie Stables, only the best would suffice. The result speaks for itself as demonstrated at the recent International Property Awards,” said Jonas.
