Colene Baker has been appointed interim Managing Director of respected sealants company, Den Braven, with whom she has held the position as financial manager for more than 20 years.

Following in her father’s footsteps in construction, Colene obtained her diploma in Cost Management from the Technikon Witwatersrand in 1994 and says, “I feel very fortunate to have worked very closely with my mentor and Den Braven’s previous managing director, Averil Webbstock.”

Colene lists her management strengths as being open and inclusive and notes that she enjoys a close-knit relationship with her team. She is married with two children, Kathleen and Alec. Much of her spare time is taken up supporting her children who both are enthusiastic athletes. Kathleen is a provincial mountain biker and Alec is an avid cricketer. Coupled with Colene’s love for fast cars and motor bikes, her spare time is dedicated to enjoying our country’s beautiful climate and scenery with her family on their mountain bikes.

“My vision is to support our team in getting Den Braven through these incredibly tough trading times, and to continue to grow the business by building on its strengths of integrity, service and technical know-how, in both the built environment and hardware industry,” Colene notes.

Den Braven Sealants has been trading for over 40 years in South Africa and currently employs 27 people, many of whom have been with the company for over 10 years. They operate from branches in Cape Town and Durban with the head office based in Johannesburg.

As a valued Building and Décor client, we wish Colene all the best in her interim role.
