Brits Nonwoven, through its Granric brand, has developed a new insulation board that is set to revolutionise the industry.

The new product, Granric ThermoSonic NC, is a thermal insulation board with a high-quality, textured finish. Grant Richardson, sales and business development manager at Brits Nonwoven, proudly points out that it is the first non-combustible insulation board to achieve an A1 rating, as tested under the new regulations.

Product development

The initial impetus for the development of ThermoSonic NC was to find a solution for retrofit applications. The installation method for many types of insulation does not deliver the smooth, hard finish of a board when retrofitted.

“When the metal roof sheeting is still in good condition, it doesn’t make sense to lift it to replace aging insulation material,” Richardson explains. “The challenge was to provide an insulation product that would deliver good performance and aesthetics for refurbishment projects.”

 Modular, segmented installation

ThermoSonic NC’s installation is a modular process, and it can be used for either new build or retrofit applications.

The product is retrofitted below purlin, on a top hat that is placed perpendicular to the purlins. Installed using this grid system, ThermoSonic NC easily accommodates any existing services. The product is available in both black and white, ensuring that the final finish is aesthetically pleasing.

This segmented approach means that the client can continue to trade during the refurbishment, merely cordoning off a section below and around the elevated work platform. “This is a game changer for the retail and warehousing industries,” says Richardson.
