FutureSpaces, a blog that showcases inspirational architectural and interior design work, continues to grow in popularity. The owners of the blog, Saint-Gobain Gyproc, launched the blog a short time ago as a means to give architects and interior a designers an online platform to showcase their work and projects.

Blog visitors are able to gain valuable insights from leading figures in the industry who regularly write posts about interesting projects. Many of the blogs take the reader on a journey from the client brief right through the design phase to completion. The blog posts are visually rich and professional images of all projects enhance the experience for the audience.

Some of the recent popular posts include a video interview with David Higgs, executive chef of the Saxon Hotel, who provides interesting and passionate insight in his brief to Stephen Falke on his vision for the décor of the fine dining restaurant 500 at the Saxon.

“The brief was simple, the food must do the talking, I didn’t want any distractions, no colour, no flowers. I wanted the space to be slick and inspire me,” explains Higgs in the video, which can be viewed at www.futurespaces.co.za.

Another popular post that has gained a lot of traction was by GASS Architecture Studio, which was tasked with an intriguing residential project situated in the Helderberg Mountains in Stellenbosch. The client brief to GASS Architecture Studio was to “create a home that merged the inside and the outside and provides us with beautiful changing visual cameos”.

The writer describes the interesting and complimentary mix of materials that were used to design the home. Images showcase unique insights and project progress, design rationale as well as the final product, which resulted in a visually beautiful and functional family home.

FutureSpaces is edited by renowned local architect Hugh Fraser, who is pleased with the blog’s performance and the amount of online attention it has received up until now.
