When VDO Consulting Engineers asked for a moisture barrier to be used between the existing screed and the new self-levelling screed for the theatre and delivery unit upgrade at Netcare Femina Hospital in Pretoria, Multi Construction Chemicals (MCC) had no hesitation in recommending its proven Hyseal 210 cementitious slurry.
MCC’s production and testing programmes comply with local and international testing standards, which enable the company to offer a five-year guarantee on the product and after taking all the other benefits into consideration, the consulting engineers decided to use Hyseal 210.
Multi Hyseal Slurry is a two-part waterproofing system incorporating a blend of cementitious powders combined with proprietary activating chemicals and high-grade quality aggregate fillers with Hyseal Bonding Agent. It is available in both coarse and fine formulations.
This product forms an effective waterproofing system for concrete, cementitious and masonry substrates. It penetrates the surface through moisture absorption and reacts with the free lime, forming a hard crystalline material which blocks the pores against water penetration and becomes an integral part of the structure.
It blocks the passage of water and seals the concrete pores, as well as providing positive and negative waterproofing against dampness, groundwater and hydrostatic pressure, making it entirely suitable for a wide range of applications where these conditions may be encountered.
Apart from being pre-blended in two formulations, Multi Hyseal is non-toxic and non-tainting, and is easily applied with a brush to wet or green concrete surfaces.
The moisture barrier at Netcare Femina Hospital was installed by an approved MCC contractor, Industrial Project Services, under the direction of the main contractor, Group 5.
