Brits Nonwoven, through its Granric brand, has announced positive fire testing results for its Granric MBI range.
Grant Richardson, sales and business development manager at Brits Nonwoven, expresses his delight that the range has successfully tested to the new SANS 53501 testing protocol.
“The Granric MBI range meets the criteria of A2 – s1,d0 according to the testing protocols, and is suitable for use across all building occupancies,” he confirms.
Product details
Granric MBI is manufactured from high-quality, non-combustible, flexible glasswool insulation with an inert binder, which makes the product lightweight, safe and resilient.
The product is faced on one side with a reinforced foil, or either a white or black metalised foil.

Confirmed performance
The Granric MBI range’s previous classification in terms of the SANS 428 specification was “Non-combustible – A*, Class A/A1/1*”.
These new test results prove the fire performance and safety criteria that Granric MBI delivers as a metal building insulation, and beyond. “With these results, we are even more confident in the value that our products deliver, both today and in the future,” Richardson concludes.
Confirming its continued value in metal building insulation, the Granric MBI range has achieved an A2 – s1,d0 rating, as per the protocols of the new SANS 53501 fire testing regulations.
