The 108th annual Master Builders South Africa (MBSA) congress, which takes place at the Indaba Hotel and Conference Centre just north of Sandton from 29 September to 1 October 2013, will host a line-up of experts from different areas of the construction industry, under this year’s theme of Building South Africa: Bridging the gap.

The Minister of Public Enterprises, Malusi Gigaba, and the Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela, will be the headline speakers at this year’s Congress and specialised speakers and panellists, comprising built environment professionals, academics, business development specialists and members of the public sector, will cover a range of topical issues relating to the building and construction industry.

“We are delighted that the Minister will be participating at Congress. As the Minister of Public Enterprises he plays a fundamental role in the development of infrastructure initiatives and programmes that impact the construction industry in South Africa,” says MBSA executive director Tumi Dlamini.

She adds, “We are equally thrilled that the Public Protector, a bold and fearless anti-corruption ombudsman, will be taking part. She has become one of the most significant public figures in South Africa, respected by millions of ordinary South Africans whose lives are affected by maladministration in our country.”

Other influential speakers that can be expected to address attendees include: Roelf Meyer, Chairman of the Civil Society Initiative; Trueman Goba from the National Planning Commission; Professor Tinus Maritz from the University of Pretoria’s Department of Construction Economics; political analyst Justice Malala; Phumudzo Maphaha from the Department of Labour; and Ntebo Ngozwana, Construction Industry Performance Manager at the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB).

Dlamini continues, “Congress is an important event on the industry calendar to address issues affecting businesses. It is an opportunity for industry members across the country to engage in dialogue.”

All members of the building and construction industry are invited to attend the MBSA Congress. Sponsorship and exhibition opportunities are available to companies wishing to support the event and ensure visibility of their brand, products and services to industry players.
