Madiba’s spirit alive and well, despite COVID-19

If someone wants to make difference, they will find a way – even during a global pandemic.

As part of the 2020 Mandela Day celebrations, the Sika team wanted to pay tribute to the global icon by supporting a cause close to his heart. Upon deliberation, the team felt that given the widespread need caused by the lockdown, they would extend a helping hand to no less than seven schools in the south of Durban.

School specific support
Austerville Primary, Collingwood Primary, Durban East Primary, Fairvale Secondary, Gardenis Primary, Umbilo Secondary, Wentworth Primary and Wentworth Secondary School completed the list of the seven schools identified by Sika

As schools were closed because of the COVID-19 regulations, the downtime was being used to conduct some maintenance or renovations. Sika recognised this as the ideal opportunity to target their support by consulting with Collingwood Principal, Colin Chand to identify which schools in the area were in need of building products.

Truckloads of products
On 29 July 2020, the excitement was evident when three truckloads brimming with 43 different Sika products valued at R500000, arrived at the schools. Items included flooring products, waterproofing coatings and a wide range of joint sealants and adhesives.

Sika’s generosity in supporting our future leaders is a great example of making a difference. Madiba’s spirit is alive and well thanks to the Sika Team.
