A new partnership between two well-known brands, TAL and X-Calibur, will benefit the South African construction industry by providing the local market with international construction chemical products. TAL, with more than 40 years of experience in the local market, was approached by X-Calibur, an international brand in construction chemistry, to introduce their brand to the South African market.
The official launch of TAL’s new extended product range with X-Calibur was held in Johannesburg on 16 May. TAL will now manufacture the X-Calibur concrete repair and rehabilitation product range under a license from the international giant. TAL also obtained the rights to distribute the products to eleven countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
Under the new X-Calibur product range, TAL will be providing concrete repair and protection products, surface treatments, grouting and fixings, sealers and coatings, as well as waterproofing systems. As TAL already supplies products under these various categories, the X-Calibur product range will only add to the list of specialised products that they provide to cater for the needs of customers.
Specifiers can now enjoy the benefits of X-Calibur’s product range that includes products specifically focused on maximising concrete performance and prevent decay, as well as repair damage from the construction to the completion of a project. Their products aid especially in the protection and waterproofing of concrete to avert deterioration and restoration of damaged concrete.
Chaitan Manga, general manager of TAL, spoke at the launch. He says their customers will be spoilt for choice. “Delivering quality products is one of the building blocks of business,” he says.
He says the local market can use X-Calibur’s products knowing that it was developed by incorporating the latest technologies available to the construction industry. X-Calibur has a technology partnership agreement with leading US, European, Middle and Far-East and African companies that allows them to create and design products, fully incorporating the needs of end-users as well as delivering innovative product solutions to the industry.
X-Calibur was utilised during the construction of many of the world’s prestigious buildings and structures, such as the soaring Burj Khalifa in Dubai where over 250 000m² of coatings were supplied; Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, the world’s first theme park dedicated to Ferrari and the F1 experience, where a coating and waterproofing system was provided for the 50 000m² employee car park; and Stonecutters Bridge in Hong Kong, the second-largest cable-stayed bridge in the world for which a range of products was supplied.
“TAL is an ISO 9001:2008 accredited company and is dedicated to developing quality construction chemical products that are compatible with the harsh South African climate and in line with the latest technology,” says Manga.
