Inspiring young fitter shares his career journey with local CEO

Polyflor SA’s CEO, Tandy Coleman, shares an interview with an up-and-coming fitter on LinkedIn.Polyflor SA’s CEO, Tandy Coleman, recently shared a post on LinkedIn that was read and shared by many people in the flooring industry.

“The young fitter, a 22-year-old called Nethavhani Pfunzo Theophylus – Theo for short – inspired me because it was obvious that this man is determined, delightful and enthusiastic about his trade,” says Tandy.

Tandy went on to interview the young fitter for the LinkedIn post that he wrote. Here are a few excerpts:

Tell us a bit about the FITA NQF level 1 course?
It is a six-month course followed by a six-month apprenticeship and covers flooring as a whole. I learnt about laying carpet tiles, vinyl tiles and vinyl sheets. I started in August 2015 and then I did my apprenticeship with Combined Flooring and learnt so much from them. They really helped my vinyl skills.

Why do you love your job?
I love to build and make things; it keeps me busy. I have found something I love in life!

There are many opportunities for ambitious individuals who want to learn various trades within the flooring sector. Polyflor SA is humbled to have the opportunity to get to know the future fitters of our country.
