It was with great delight that the Walls & Roofs / Floors in Africa team headed off to Nelspruit to present the inaugural DAS Conference in that region. The agenda was jampacked with amazing speakers and topics, as is expected from these CPD-accredited events.

Henning Rasmuss from Datascape Architects shared his experience in working with data centres in his talk, “Connecting the dots: Snapshots of the African data centre landscape”. He also hosted a fireside chat, “Practice makes imperfect: Reflections on business unusual”.

Willem Grove of BMI explained the company’s mantra that it’s never just a roof.

Klippie du Toit from Earthswitch Architects discussed the new Thanda School project.

Des Schnetler of TIPSASA spoke on fire performance of thermal insulation in an introduction to “Reaction to fire testing”.

Philip Kleijnhans, property developer and architect, presented his project, “Nkosi City: An integrated human settlement in Daantjie, striking at the heart of poverty”.

The day ended with a workshop on using AI and ChatGPOT to target and draw an ideal client to your firm, facilitated by Media in Africa Group’s Marlene van Rooyen.

At the breaks, delegates met and networked with our sponsors, who were on hand to introduce new products and provide technical information to those in attendance.

Thank you to the Nelspruit built environment community for the warm welcome and a noteworthy DAS event.
