In the food and beverage sector, high quality, hygiene and safety standards are key. With over 39 years in the confectionary business, the family behind Grootendorst Bakery in Gqeberha had first-hand experience of why the right flooring is a critical consideration. When transforming an old house into a newly renovated bakery, Technical Finishes provided them with a tried-and-tested recipe for flooring success.

As a tribute to their proud Dutch heritage, orange (RAL2003) flooring was chosen as their signature colour.

Critical factors

This type of project requires a flooring solution that is durable, slip-resistant, aids in temperature and moisture control, and is resistant to extreme hot or cold conditions. It also needs to be easy to clean, stain resistant and attractive.

Fit-for-purpose solution

  • Freezer room: Polyscreed HF.
  • Cold room: Polyscreed RT.
  • Kitchen, back of house and storeroom: Polyscreed MD. Covings: Polyscreed WR Lockcoat.

The installation was completed by Anthony Krige of Krochem High-Performance Flooring, with Grootendorst particularly pleased with how the bakery was kept tidy from floor preparation through to final application.
