LobaCare, in collaboration with Zimbo’s Flooring Solutions, offers comprehensive maintenance and care advice for oiled and varnished floors. By following these guidelines, floors are protected from damage – preserving their natural appeal and ensuring their longevity and beauty.

Regular maintenance

  • Clean both oiled and varnished floors once a week using water and Loba Cleaner.
  • The floor should only be damp and not wet, as excessive water can damage it.
  • During the first week after installation, dry cleaning is advised.
  • Clean weekly with soap and tepid water, then rinse with clean cold water.
  • Adequate ventilation is necessary during drying.
  • Oiled floors: Loba WaxCleaner every six to eight weeks provides additional protection and a gentle lustre.
  • Varnished floors: Weekly use of Loba Cleaner or ParkettRefresh is recommended.

Annual maintenance

  • Oiled floors: Loba ParkettOil should be applied every 12 to 24 months using a cloth, or a buffing machine with a brown pad to nourish and protect the floor.
  • Varnished floors: Apply Loba FloorCare or FloorCare Matt once every 12 months using a cloth, or a buffing machine with a brown pad. This forms a protective film on the varnished surface, reducing scratches and providing additional durability.
  • Zimbo’s Flooring Solutions offers this service annually at an additional cost.

Top four tips for wood floors

  • Use furniture protectors and walk-in mats at the entrance to trap dirt.
  • Pet urine and behaviour can harm the floor.
  • Consider using ultraviolet (UV) protection for windows to protect wood floors from excessive sunlight, and be mindful of running air-conditioning or underfloor heating for extended periods.
  • Avoid using acidic or alkaline cleaning products.
