Here are a few of the unique and inspiring flooring products that caught our attention at the 51st edition of NEOCON:
See Flooring Differently
From original visuals to design ability and ordering, Karndean Designflooring’s unique approach to luxury vinyl challenged visitors to their exhibition stand to change the way they see, design and specify flooring. The company showcased its Spring 2018 Collection, which included 24 visuals developed from American black walnut, shuttered concrete, European oak and pine, and Australian spotted gum.
The company also displayed its new rigid core collection, Korlok Reserve, which is an extension of its award-winning Korlok Select range. From the classic, yet rustic design of Vintage Oregon Oak sourced from the Pacific Northwest to the sleek, matte greys of Tavern Oiled Oak, this collection of woods is an eclectic mix of rustic, limed and oiled visuals.
The Drawing Room Collection
Bentley showcased their Drawing Room Collection, which is earmarked for the new generation of workspace design. The new collection builds on The Outskirts concept that the company introduced at last year’s event. Bentley’s workspaces felt more like home this year, as the company was challenged to create pseudo-hospitality spaces that embraced and balanced the dynamics of interoffice collaboration, hot desk environments and fixed staff floor plans.
Some of the stand-out products from this collection include RETREAT AND REINVIGORATE, a 21st-century carpet collection that mirrors those of a 17th-century (with)drawing room – an intimate space where people gather to ponder, indulge, be entertained, tell stories, and perhaps most importantly, to find inspiration. The Chronicle and Redacted carpets are designed to feel luxurious in a world that requires resilience. The highly textured patterns are both: they have the rich look of velvet embellished with the sheen of both matte and metallic lustres, and offer an all-loop construction fit for any high traffic space. Dog Eared and Dust Jacket take a more playful tone, with mid- to large-scale geometrics that subtly fold colour into neutral backgrounds.
Discord by Design
Jagged lines at sharp angles layered with frenzied organic scrawls define the Discord collection by Bentley. While the subversive patterning sets the tone, it simultaneously gives way to a harmony of colours. There are 14 colours in the Discord collection and each colour was carefully chosen to create subtle yet meaningful interactions on the floor. These carpets are made with Antron* Lumena* Type 6,6 Nylon for ultimate colour and performance.
The Garrison Collection
The Garrison Collection is a compilation of some of the most popular flooring options in today’s market – from affordable laminate and waterproof vinyl to luxury hardwood. What made this collection stand out at this year’s NEOCON event are the unique designs, colours and quality of the products within the collection.
The collection is from the company that was founded in 1956 and is highly esteemed in the industry. The WPC AquaBlue flooring product, which forms part of the collection, is durable, easily to maintain and unaffected by water. Unlike cork, which can harbour mould and bacteria, this product features an EVA rubber underlayment that repels moisture and bacteria. The 6-foot long, 7-inch wide planks are characterised by their precisely micro-beveled edges and deeply embossed surface texture. The planks are also UV coated and finished with aluminium oxide to ensure lasting quality.
The laminate options in the Garrison Collection offer endless colour and texture options. The French oak style laminate on display at NEOCON was so realistic that many people couldn’t tell that it wasn’t real wood.
