Saint-Gobain Gyproc has launched its new-generation DONN grid system.
South Africa’s innovative Saint-Gobain Gyproc team has recently reinvented the renowned DONN ceiling system. The product is currently being introduced to industry stakeholders and media in major cities across the country.
New DONN T38 FR grids are fully compatible and interchangeable with previous versions, with the added appeal of light-reflective steel capping and bright white colouring with rust-resistant galvanised steel construction.
DONN manufactures products to ISO standards, ensuring superior quality and consistency. The products’ 60-minute fire rating for stability and integrity is the only existing system with a fire rating above 30 minutes in accordance with SANS10177: Part 2.
The DONN grid system, which includes mineral fibre ceiling tiles from Celotex and signature fire notches integrated with the main tee, has undergone four independent safety fire performance standard tests at the Council for Scientific Research’s (CSIR) Fire Lab, where it was awarded an unrivalled 60-minute fire rating.
Kobus Strydom, a spokesperson for the Fire Lab, says: “Fire resistance is an absolute necessity in modern construction, but the DONN system goes well beyond our expectations for a fire-rated ceiling grid.”
The system’s cross tees are manufactured using steel alloy for accuracy and resilience. The patented quick-release clips allow for easy installation with no unintended dropouts. The grids can also be disassembled, after which the cross tees can be reused.
The DONN T38 FR grid system carries Saint-Gobain’s ten-year SpecSure warranty, which is designed to offer total confidence that the system will meet the most stringent building requirements.
