Every year, The International Surface Event takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada. Steven Suntup, previous Chairman of Southern Africa Wood, Laminate & Flooring Association (SAWLFA), had the privilege of attending this year’s instalment of the exhibition, which is the largest B2B (business to business) North American flooring event serving the entire floor covering industry.
The majority of the exhibitors at the event were American manufacturers and distributors servicing the American market. Quite a few Chinese companies also exhibited this year. Steven was amazed at the variety the show had to offer, with everything from carpet, stone, vinyl and laminate to tools, machines and accessories on display. Flooring associations as well as flooring magazines were also represented among the 150 exhibitors.
Approximately 25 000 visitors attended the event over the four days that it was held. Needless to say, all the top flooring brands showcased their latest collections.
A few colleagues and contacts asked him whether a trip to Las Vegas for The International Surface Event is a worthwhile journey and expense for South African distributors. Steven said that he believes Domotex Germany and Domotex Shanghai are still the best exhibitions for South African flooring professionals to attend when searching for great products.
The next exhibition that Steven will attend is Domotex USA, which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, from 28 February – 2 March. He is looking forward to seeing what the American instalment of Domotex has to offer.
Full thanks and acknowledgement are given to Steven Suntup for the information contained in this article.
