The goal of FLOORS in Africa and WALLS & ROOFS magazines’ DAS conferences and roadshows is to give participating firms a networking opportunity with sponsors, who also have the opportunity to present their brand and products to decision-makers in their industry. The events were hosted throughout the year all across the country and we are happy to report that they were a phenomenal success.
“The DAS events had fantastic speakers, who covered topics ranging from award-winning projects and digital project delivery to Building Information Modelling (BIM), the blurring lines between residential and commercial design and product-related discussions from manufacturers in the built environment. Theresa Hardman from Art and Design Studio gave a presentation on cultivating your creativity, which was based on her PHD thesis and presented for the first time in South Africa,” says Marlene van Rooyen, Managing Director of Media in Africa.
Feedback from DAS attendees on the guest speakers and exhibition stands included the following:
• A well-organised and multi-faceted event.
• Versatile and well-researched presentations.
• Great concepts. Great presentations.
• I enjoyed Charrisse Johnston’s presentation. She brought a wonderful concept and helped us think outside of the box!
• Fascinating dialogue.
• Fun and new.
• Very interesting, current and creative.
• The talks were very educational.
• Loved this event! Please share the video so I can re-watch it later – too much content to absorb all at once!
• I enjoyed the mix of design and technical information – we want more of this!
• Good speakers and product stands.
Roadshows across the country
Besides the four DAS events, we once again held our annual roadshows in Durban and Pretoria. These events not only ignite and reignite interest in new and existing products and local suppliers, they give manufacturers and suppliers the space they need to find out more about the projects that their ideal clients are working on, the challenges they face, as well as a chance to discuss potential solutions to their challenges.
Roadshow Pretoria“We had a great time hosting the roadshows and were able to glean a lot of intelligence from the practices we visited. This information has been passed on to our sponsors, who I would like to personally thank for their contributions towards our events. Without them, these events wouldn’t have been a success,” says Marlene.
Over 200 specifiers were reached during the #DBNROADSHOW, which was held in July. The firms that were visited included Osmond Lange, Boogertman & Partners, MCA Architects, Ruben Reddy Architects, Elphick Proome Architects, Turner and Townsend QS, Bloc Architects, Biyela Wright Architects, BPAS Architects, CH Designs, DMA Architects, Novospace and Woollatt & Clarke.
The content that was shared on our social media profiles on the day reached 15 584 people on Facebook and 2 947 people on Twitter.
The Pretoria companies that were visited included ARCA Unlimited Architects, Boogertman + Partners, Geyser Hahn Architects, Hofman Architects, Menlyn Maine Property Group, RLB Pentad, Pam Golding and Earthworld Architects.
