Class distinction 

Specialised roofing and cladding fasteners are classified for ease of use. Class 3 and Class 4 roofing fasteners are recommended for external roofing applications to ensure longevity and the integrity of the roof. These classes of fasteners are the best against corrosion, with a minimum grade of coating required for external applications.

• Class 3 fasteners are used in places of moderate levels of airborne pollution or coastal areas with low salt levels.
• Class 4 fasteners are more suitable for areas of airborne pollution or coastal areas with moderate to high salt levels.

Product options

Tapperman range

Flashing Centre stocks a range of Tapperman fasteners from Corroshield in Class 3 and 4.

• Diameters from 14mm to 24mm.
• Lengths from 22mm to 65mm.
• Class 3 is 1 000 hours and Class 4 is 2 000 hours salt spray tested.
• Faster drilling speed.
• Low wastage.

Corroshield aluminium-bonded washers with grey EPDM are used for additional waterproofing and can also be used with translucent roof sheeting. The washers have a diameter of 0,8mm and lengths of 19mm and 25mm.

Multifix range

All Multifix screws comply with AS3566, are easily traceable and warranties are provided on request. A variety of products are stocked at Flashing Centre:

• Blind rivets for guttering applications. These domed colour rivets are available in white, ivory and charcoal, with diameters of 4,8mm and lengths between 10mm and 15mm.
• Self-drilling roofing and cladding screws for steel in Class 3 and 4. Diameters from 12mm to 14mm, and lengths from 20mm to 22mm.
• Timberfix hex-head screws for wood, and hammer screws of 6mm in diameter and 60mm in length. Also available in stainless steel.
• Aluminium-bonded washers for additional waterproofing, ideal for use with Class 3 or Class 4 fasteners.
• Multifix steel cutting discs and silicon sealants.
