Expo

It was with great pride and excitement that the Media in Africa Group (MIAG) directors, Marlene E van Rooyen and Gerda Cowley officially opened the inaugural FLOORS in Africa Expo.

This was the culmination of a lot of hard work and a commitment to, and by, the flooring industry. Set in the village-style setting of the Indaba Hotel in Fourways, Gauteng, the event was a gathering of the who’s who of the local flooring brands.

Reconnecting an industry

“Part of the goal for this event was to create a time and place for the industry to reconnect,” explains producer, and MIAG editor-in-chief Marlene van Rooyen. She acknowledged that it has been a tough couple of years for the flooring industry, but also expressed a heartfelt belief in the potential for growth locally.

From A to Z

“Our exhibitors covered every aspect of flooring, from A to Z”, confirms van Rooyen. From construction chemicals, to vinyls, tiles and trims to carpets and wood flooring, as well as the South African Vinyl’s Association (SAVA).

Speaker

Monique Hinds of SAVA presented about the importance of recycling vinyl flooring products.

She continues, “Some of these spoke in the nearby auditorium on Friday morning, alongside our guest speaker, GG Alcock”. See our article on Kasinomics HERE.

“The FLOORS in Africa Expo was a celebration of the local flooring market, its staying power, the wonderful products that we have available, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow,” van Rooyen concludes.
