Sikafloor Garage, a two-part epoxy resin coating that conforms to multiple international standards, was recently specified by Alstom Engineers for Auxiliary units at the mammoth Medupi Power Station in Limpopo. After successful installation of the company’s products at the same power station in 2013, the engineering consultancy was confident to specify their products again.
The epoxy resin coating is suitable for use on concrete, cement screeds, broadcast systems and epoxy mortars and it is designed to withstand normal to medium-heavy mechanical and chemical loading. The coating is available in various shades and it is water dilutable, water vapour permeable and odourless. It is ideally suited for production areas, warehouses, carpark decks and garages and conforms to requirements for physiological harmlessness, for decontamination ability and for combustibility classification for floorings.
Some of the challenges of the project included ongoing construction operations in the same working areas as well as very high temperatures, which caused reduced curing times of the epoxy systems. Despite these challenges, the installation team was still able to achieve excellent finishes.
