Rubio Monocoat Oils are environmentally friendly with a formulation based on a revolutionary technology which ensures that it does not contain water, and its components are mainly natural products. It also does not contain any volatile organic components (= VOC free).
Contractors and end users can be assured of a quality, proven product that protects and colours all wood surfaces in one single layer, a claim that is backed by over 50 million square metres of wood treated with Rubio Monocoat Oils worldwide.
Because Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus adheres to the first microns of the wood by molecular bonding (with no film or saturation forming), this provides the surface with its colour and protection, and is the reason that consumption is much lower than with a traditional wood finishing system.
Because of the molecular bonding, no surface film can form, and no variable saturation can occur. Not only is a second coat not required, the finished wood will not accept a second coat once all free cellulose fibres are molecularly bonded. It is this action that protects against overlaps, starting marks and colour variance as well as causing the process to complete in a single coat, and creates a durable, long-lasting protection.
It is pointless to apply a second layer on top of Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus because this extra layer will not be able to bond with the free wood fibres or with the primarily bonded Monocoat layer. The fact that it only requires one layer introduces considerable timesaving, particularly as the colour and protection are applied at the same time.
To obtain this molecular bonding it is important to respect the reaction time of a couple of minutes. The better the fibres are bonded, the stronger the protection will be.
This technology also allows local repair of damaged areas or scratches; only the free wood fibres will absorb the product. The product next to the scratched or damaged area will not adhere. After the reaction time all surplus product can be removed without overlaps.
The unique Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus pigmentation technology allows an intense and deep colouring in one single layer, without influencing the natural look and feel of the wood.
This means that the Rubio Monocoat range enables the creation of unlimited special colour effects – in fact, the only limit on creativity is your imagination! However, these aging effects and precolourings should always be finished with Rubio Monocoat Oil, and designers and end users can take full advantage of the limitless creative possibilities of this colour range.
