Polyflor was awarded a Highly Commended accolade at the 2013 Flooring Awards in the Most Environmentally Friendly Category for their Pearlazzo PUR product. This high-performance, heavy-duty homogeneous floorcovering comprises largely natural materials (63.3%), including calcium carbonate, an abundant and sustainable chalk material.
Pearlazzo doesn’t contain lead, mercury, organic tin and cadmium compounds or formaldehyde in the stabiliser formation. It is also 100% recyclable and it is extremely energy efficient to produce.
The abundance of calcium carbonate in the earth’s crust makes it a sustainable material and its use in Pearlazzo PUR diminishes the polymer content. This product has undergone various lifecycle analyses (LCA assessments). It is independently certified with BRE Global, achieving an A+ rating in key use areas. It has also been successfully assessed by Ecospecifier, achieving a Green Tag Gold LCARate certification and GreenRate level A. Recently, it obtained further validation through ERFMI’s generic environmental product declaration (EPD), standard EN15804 Sustainability of Construction Works.
Pearlazzo has been independently tested, passing the most stringent VOC emissions test (having come in well below the strictly set, acceptable levels) with no negative contribution to indoor air quality. This floorcovering also demonstrates outstanding durability and abrasion resistance and has an estimated lifespan of 20-25 years. This is possible as it achieves the highest wear rating Group T (EN 660 Part 2) and the Use Area Classification of 23/34/43.
