The Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) recently launched the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Women in Green Building Competition 2024. This is the third year of the competition, which aims to empower and upskill female professionals in the property and construction sectors.
The competition offers participants the opportunity to gain EDGE Expert training and exam access, as well as additional training, enhancing their skillsets and service offerings with green building expertise. EDGE Expert training is delivered online and on demand by the GBCSA Academy.
How it works
The IFC Women in Green Building Competition 2024 runs in three phases, from June to October 2024.
- Phase 1 – application submission: Female professionals are invited to apply, including a brief motivation for seeking EDGE qualification and a short biography. A judging panel, comprising GBCSA and IFC-selected judges, will select the Top 10 finalists.
- Phase 2 – training and exams: The Top 10 finalists will receive free EDGE Expert training via the GBCSA Academy’s online learning platform. After completing the training, finalists will be eligible to take the EDGE exam, which must be completed by 16 October 2024.
- Phase 3 – awards and recognition: The Top 3 exam results will receive free tickets to the Green Building Convention 2024 in Cape Town, along with achievement certificates to be awarded at the Convention. The winner also receives a R10 000 Incredible Connection voucher.
The GBCSA invites women working in the built environment and related professions based in South Africa, who are not already EDGE-qualified, to enter.
Entries close at 5pm on Friday 28 June 2024.
